Henry Troup research
set 1.
Photographs of the school from strange angles.
set 2
Photograms of lolly sticks.
These photograms were made by sticking tape on the surface of the photographic paper, exposing them to light and developing in the chemicals before removing the tape.

Photographs of close-up textures around school.
development
experiment 1
To make these photographs I used the pictures I took and the photograms I made in the darkroom and double printed them on the school photocopier selecting single colour combinations. I wanted to use the idea of chance so that I couldn't predict which photos would be combined with which and what the two colours would look like overprinted. I'm really pleased with the outcomes. I decided to install the pictures in an unusual place in school - on the floor and woven into the railings of the bridge across the concourse. I used the 8mm app on my phone to make a short film.
The theme I choose was detail. I chose this because I thought that I could get loads of ideas for what I could do and when I researched detailed photographs I liked the ones I found on the Internet and it gave me lots of ideas.
I have had many ideas for what to do. I researched a range of photographers and looked at their photos and got ideas. I made photos in the dark room and all around the school building. All the photos I have taken are to do with detail. I have developed my idea by using different techniques to change it around and see if I could improve the way I have made things. I have looked on the Internet and researched photographs and have used some of these ideas. My favourite photographer for detail is Henry Troup. This is because you can't tell what he has used to make the photograph detailed so I took his idea and used different techniques and different objects to create my final images.
I have carried out a range of experiment. I have used the dark room to create a series of photograms. I have used ice lolly sticks, loom bands, elastic bands, pins and sticky tape. I also made a series of different photos around school, looking for things that had a lot of detail on them and I took them using different angles so you could not have told what they were. The camera I used to take the photographs with a DSLR. To make my final piece I used a combination of photograms and photographs of close-up textures.
I am happy with the outcome. I like it because of the way it has been made and I did not think that it would come out like that. It has bright colours and you can not tell what some of the final pictures are of.
